The digital revolution has enabled a higher level of accessibility to the internet, information, and communication (ICT) platforms.

However, the development of ICT has led to its exploitation by groups operating in black-market activities and drug trafficking, utilizing the digital revolution as a means to achieve their objectives. This is seen through the progressive expansion of the Transnational Crime Organization (TCO), one of which is the drug trafficking business or cartels within the Mexican Drug War (MDW) who try to expand its influence and market through the use of social media and cryptocurrency, making financial investigation more complicated.
